Product description:
Our products KUMAKO® [KUNSTSTOFFMAUERKOPFABDECKUNG, polymer parapet wall coping covers] and KURABLE® [KUNSTSTOFFDACHRANDBLENDE, polymer wall edge covers] are made from 3 mm strong Makrolon®. This is a polymer plastic that belongs to the group of polycarbonates. It is resistant against UV-radiation and weather and remains sturdy down to a temperature of -40° C.
It's electrical resistance is 1.00 x 1015 Ωcm and the penetration barrier is at 20,00 kv /mm. Furthermore thermal properties are important. The minimum threshold for continued use lies at -40 °C, the maximum threshold for continued use is at +120 °C. Heat conductivity is rated at 0,200 W / mk. It can be glued, drilled, bored, milled, planed and sawn. Due to these technical properties polycarbonates are very good insulators against electric currents.
The parapet wall of a flat roof is usually fitted with a coping and wall edge covers. In either case the common materials of choice are aluminium, zinc or copper. The metallic nature of those materials poses a conductivity problem in case of lightning for which we offer a solution to you. In contrast to our products these covers are conductive and thus hazardous to different kinds of superstructures nearby, e.g. telecommunications equipment, air conditioning or solar panels. There is also the possibility of devices and structures within a building (e.g. servers or controls for air conditioning systems) that are connected to structures outside being damaged or destroyed by lightning.
Calculating the minimum spacing has to be done according to the corresponding ISO rules, non-conductive segments have to be applied at varying lengths. We manufacture the parts as needed at precise lengths and in custom shapes in the (RAL) colour you want according to your specifications. After installation through a roofer, carpenter or plumber it will be all but indistinguishable from surrounding covers and copings.
