The necessary spacing ("s") can be calculated with the following formula:
s=ki (kc / km) L
Variables involved:
- L = distance from the point you want to calculate the spacing from to the point of the next equipotential
- ki = Lightning protection class (describes the maximum current amplitude)
- kc = Kind of geometric configuration (number of electrical discharge points, hight of building etc.)
- km = Depends on the isolation in use. Assume "1" for air, "0.5" for concrete and bricks.
- s = spacing distance
